Laura Lokers, LMSW

Laura Lokers, LMSW is a licensed clinical social worker and worked in the University of Michigan’s Department of Psychiatry, Anxiety Disorders Program for 10 years before co-founding the Anxiety and OCD Treatment Center of Ann Arbor. She received her Master’s degree from the University of Michigan School of Social Work in 2005 and has specialized training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for a variety of anxiety, mood disorders and OCD. She has also received expert training in the area of Habit-Reversal Therapy in the treatment of body focused repetitive behaviors, including trichotillomania and compulsive skin-picking. Laura has had advanced training and experience working with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, including intensive outpatient exposure and response prevention for aggressive OCD symptoms.  In addition to clinical treatment and clinical training, Laura Lokers has also been involved in clinical research, primarily in the area of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and OC spectrum disorders and is an adjunct professor at the University of Michigan School of Social Work. Currently she is a founding member of the Washtenaw County Hoarding Task Force and has extensive experience in the treatment of hoarding disorder. Laura bases her treatment plans on current scientific evidence to provide treatment targeted to develop skills for patients to overcome their anxiety symptoms, both now and in the future. Works with children, teens and adults. 

Outside of her clinical work, Laura regularly presents at conferences and other professional training venues on evidence based interventions for anxiety disorders, OCD and OCD spectrum disorders. Please contact directly to discuss potential presentations.
