Natalie Pottschmidt, PhD, LLP
Dr. Natalie Pottschmidt is a postdoctoral fellow at The Anxiety and OCD Treatment Center of Ann Arbor. She earned her doctoral degree from the Pennsylvania State University, where she was trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), mindfulness-based approaches, and relational approaches to therapy. She then completed her predoctoral clinical internship at the University of Michigan Mary A. Rackham Institute, where she gained further experience in behavioral and exposure-based approaches to therapy, including training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) as a complement to CBT. Combined, Dr. Pottschmidt has seven years of experience working with adult clients in outpatient mental health from a variety of approaches to psychotherapy.
In both her clinical practice and research interests, Dr. Pottschmidt focuses on personalizing evidence-based practices in psychotherapy to meet the needs of individual clients. She works to build trusting, collaborative relationships with her clients as a foundation for trauma-informed, culturally-sensitive therapy. Dr. Pottschmidt takes a primarily behavioral, exposure-focused approach to therapy, helping clients to change how they feel by first changing what they do. For folks struggling with anxiety and OCD-spectrum disorders in particular, Dr. Pottschmidt has experience integrating ERP, ACT, and CBT to help create lasting change.
