Kate Sheehan, MA, TLLP

Blue Cross Blue Shield (except Blue Cross Complete and Medicare Plus Blue)

Kate is currently a doctoral candidate in the University of Toledo’s clinical psychology
program. She first began her clinical work at Bradley Hospital and the Warren Alpert
Medical School of Brown University’s Pediatric Anxiety Research Center where she
worked as a clinical research assistant. During this time, she conducted diagnostic
interviews and served as an exposure coach for youth with anxiety and OCD receiving
Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). Since then, she has worked with teens and
adults with a variety of presenting concerns receiving outpatient therapy in community
clinic and medical center settings. Although Kate still feels passionate about treating
anxiety and OCD using ERP, she also incorporates mindfulness and self-compassion in
her clinical work, drawing mainly on elements of Compassion-Focused Therapy and
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. As a trainee, she is also always learning new
techniques and skills from her experienced, skilled supervisors.

In the therapy room, Kate is passionate about dispelling stigma and shame related to
mental health concerns and works to establish a non-judgmental environment where
clients can be their authentic selves. She also aims to flexibly tailor therapy to fit the
unique needs of each individual.

Outside of the therapy room, Kate conducts research focused on maximizing,
personalizing, and improving access to empirically supported treatments like ERP. She
also enjoys spending time outside, lifting, yoga, and reality TV.
