Elyse Hutcheson, PhD, DLLP

Dr. Elyse Hutcheson is a postdoctoral fellow at the clinic and completed her doctoral degree at the University of Toledo.  Prior to joining the team, Dr. Hutcheson completed predoctoral internship training at the Rogers Behavioral Health OCD and Anxiety Adult Residential Program in Oconomowoc, WI. During her doctoral internship, Dr. Hutcheson also gained additional training and supervision in the Adolescent OCD and Anxiety Residential Program and Adult Eating Disorder Recovery Program at Rogers Behavioral Health. Dr. Hutcheson has maintained an interest in treating and researching OCD since before beginning graduate training, when she worked for two years as a research assistant at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University OCD Research Group.

 

Dr. Hutcheson has previously worked at The Anxiety and OCD Treatment Center of Ann Arbor as a TLLP during graduate training, and treated a diverse range of clients with CBT and ERP, including children, adolescents, and adults. Dr. Hutcheson has also received extensive training in mindfulness and acceptance-based therapies, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and mindful self-compassion. Dr. Hutcheson frequently highlights self-compassion and values as motivators for change in therapy. With hands-on experience in both residential and outpatient settings, Dr. Hutcheson has developed a comprehensive skill set in delivering evidence-based therapies, including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), to clients struggling with high-acuity OCD, anxiety disorders, and related conditions. Dr. Hutcheson has particular interest and experience working with OCD and anxiety in the context of other co-occurring disorders, such as ADHD, PTSD, ASD, and eating disorders.

 

Clients have described Dr. Hutcheson as genuine, motivating, and empathetic. Dr. Hutcheson believes in cultivating strong, collaborative therapeutic relationships with her clients while helping them meet their goals, and believes therapy should be uniquely individualized to each person. Out of the office, Dr. Hutcheson spends most of her time being creative (painting, crafting, DIYs), cultivating her indoor plant jungle, and watching comedy with her cat.
