Dr. LaRosa is double board certified in both General Adult Psychiatry as well as Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She developed a strong interest in anxiety disorders and OCD as an undergraduate student at the University of Michigan, where she assisted in clinical research under the mentorship of Dr. Gregory Hanna, a recognized expert in the field of pediatric OCD and anxiety. Her contribution to research on abnormal error monitoring in pediatric OCD was published in the Journal of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and she went on to receive her medical degree from the Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, MI. Following medical school, she returned to the University of Michigan to complete a post-graduate internship and general psychiatry residency, where she trained in the adult Anxiety Disorders Program under the expertise of Dr. James Abelson. She then stayed on to complete a two year fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Throughout her fellowship, Dr. LaRosa was once again mentored by Dr. Hanna and spent time researching and presenting on abnormal neural circuitry and neuroanatomical changes related to OCD. Although OCD is her main area of interest, Dr. LaRosa has comprehensive expertise in evidence-based assessment and treatment of all disorders seen at our clinic, in addition to a variety of other psychiatric disorders in both children and adults. Dr. LaRosa is a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP), the Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA), and the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF).
