Abby Lucas, PhD, DLLP

Dr. Abigael (Abby) Lucas completed her doctoral training in clinical psychology at the University of Michigan and is currently a postdoctoral fellow at the clinic. During her doctoral training, Dr. Lucas received training in evidence-based therapies for a variety of mental health concerns in outpatient settings, including specialty training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for anxiety disorders and OCD. Dr. Lucas completed her pre-doctoral clinical internship in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she gained experience providing evidence-based therapy to individuals across the lifespan and received specialty training in evidence-based therapy for the spectrum of eating disorders and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) groups.
Dr. Lucas has research interests at the intersection of positive psychology and mental health, with special interest in the relationships between compassion for self/others and mental health and well-being. This has informed her approach to working with clients, such that Dr. Lucas aims to foster a safe, collaborative, and compassionate therapy space, where clients feel understood, supported, and empowered to approach their therapy goals. She utilizes evidence-based approaches to treat anxiety disorders and OCD and pays particular attention to how these interventions ought to be tailored to meet each individual's goals and needs.
