Lisa O'Donnell, PhD, LMSW

Lisa O’Donnell received her MSW in 2005 from the University of Michigan School of Social Work and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Michigan. She then received her PhD from the University of Michigan’s Joint PhD program in Social Work and Psychology in 2016. Following her doctoral studies, she was a post-doctoral scholar under the Max Gray Fellowship in the Child and Adolescent Mood Disorders Program (CHAMP) within UCLA’s Department of Psychiatry with Dr. David Miklowitz.

Dr. O'Donnell has over 14 years of clinical experience providing individual and group psychotherapy to adolescents, adults and families. She is certified as a cognitive therapist through the Beck Institute for Cognitive Therapy and Research and she has also trained in various other evidence-based treatments (i.e., family-focused therapy, interpersonal therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, interpersonal social rhythm therapy). She has advanced expert training in the treatment of social anxiety, trichotillomania, depression and bipolar disorder.

Dr. O'Donnell has been extensively involved in conducting research that examines the nature of functional and quality of life deficits found among individuals with severe mental illnesses such as social anxiety, depression and bipolar disorder and the impact of current psychosocial interventions on remediating these deficits. Additionally, she teaches clinical courses including The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for Mental Disorders and Cognitive-Behavioral Theory and Practice in The Master of Social Work (M.S.W.) program at Wayne State University.

Routine messages will generally be returned within two business days.  ​

Insurance

Lisa O'Donnell, PhD, LMSW is not in-network with any insurance companies.

Payment is expected at the time of service. Cash, check and credit cards are acceptable forms of payment. If your insurance covers out-of-network therapy, I can provide documentation that you will submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. Please review questions to ask about your insurance coverage here. I am also able to give you a proof of service receipt if you wish to submit it to your Health Savings Plan (HSP/HSA) for reimbursement.
