Kiley Hierl, PhD, Fellow
Dr. Hierl completed her doctoral training in school psychology at Michigan State University, where her research focused on examining the effects of a social-emotional learning intervention for at-risk preschool students. Her primary training in graduate school was conducted within school systems, as well as in the Child Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Clinic working with multi-diagnostic patients. Dr. Hierl's background in school psychology provides a unique skill set in understanding educational systems and advocating for children's social-emotional and educational needs. Her background and experiences in the school and clinical settings allow her to understand the child across settings and to effectively and efficiently coordinate care. Dr. Hierl completed her pre-doctoral internship at Thriving Minds, an APPIC accredited site, where she received extensive training in treating children with anxiety, mood, and behavior disorders using a range of treatment modalities. Dr. Hierl strives to deliver high-quality, culturally sensitive, collaborative care through data- and evidence-based intervention and consultation. Her goal is to create a collaborative relationship with clients to help them to develop the skills necessary to manage anxiety and improve overall functioning. She works from a cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) approach; her specialty is in using exposure-based treatments for anxiety disorders. She has also received training in Habit Reversal Training for body-focused repetitive disorders.
