JoAnne Shipman, LMSW

JoAnne Shipman, LMSW, is a licensed clinical social worker who specializes in the treatment of anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorders (OCD) in adults.  She completed her graduate training at the University of Michigan School of Social Work in 2013 with an emphasis on mental health and interpersonal practice.  Ms. Shipman completed a clinical internship and post masters in social work fellowship at the University of Michigan's Mary A. Rackham Institute (MARI) with advanced training in exposure based cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for anxiety disorders and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).  She has extensive experience working with older adults, individuals with co-occurring anxiety disorders and chronic health conditions, and traumatic brain injuries.  

​JoAnne currently holds a staff position at the University of Michigan Health System Department of Psychiatry where she provides evidenced based treatment for panic disorder, phobias, social anxiety disorder, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD, and other anxiety related disorders.  Ms. Shipman strives to provide a highly collaborative, evidenced based treatment that focuses on clients reaching their individual treatment goals.

Routine messages will generally be returned within two business days. 

Insurance

 JoAnne Shipman is in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield and Blue Care Network insurances.  Payment is expected at the time of service. If your insurance covers out of network therapy, documentation is available for you to submit to your insurance company, HSA, HSP, of FSA for possible reimbursement or proof of treatment. Please review questions to ask about your insurance coverage here.
