Fred Upton, PhD, LP
Dr. Upton completed his doctorate in clinical psychology at Wayne State University in 2017. In graduate school, his clinical training emphasized empirically-supported treatments, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing, for a wide range of disorders in both outpatient clinics and medical centers in Detroit. Dr. Upton completed his pre-doctoral internship at the University of Michigan’s Mary A. Rackham Institute, where he received extensive training in treating children, adolescents and adults with mood and anxiety disorders using a range of treatment modalities.
Dr. Upton believes therapy goals are best achieved with a strong therapeutic relationship. He emphasizes a collaborative approach while delivering culturally-sensitive, evidence-based treatment. Dr. Upton’s specialty is in using exposure-based treatments for anxiety disorders. A native Michigander, in his free time Dr. Upton can be found listening to podcasts and cooking soup.

Insurance
Dr. Upton is an in-network provider for Blue Care Network ( including M Premier), Blue Cross Blue Shield (except Blue Cross Complete and Medicare Plus Blue) and PHP/Michigan Cares insurance. Payment is expected at the time of service. If your insurance covers out of network therapy, documentation is available for you to submit to your insurance company, HSA, HSP, of FSA for possible reimbursement or proof of treatment.
